2019 Waste Trends In Your State

What changes are happening in your state related to hazardous waste in 2019? What can we learn from e-Manifest and EPA data?

2019 Volumes

Tons

You can use the chart below to see our e-Manifest volumes for 2019. The chart is set to show all e-Manifest data from 2019. If you select the “EPA WASTE” filter you can change the map to only show hazardous waste (select “Y”) or non-Federally regulated waste (“N”.) Pretty groovy.

Non-Federally Regulated Waste in e-Manifest

Everything is bigger in Texas right? If you change the map to show just hazardous waste (select “Y”), we can see Texas still is the state with the most tons shipped, but the volumes are now less than half. Some states (like TX, CA and IL) require the use of a hazardous waste manifests for certain non-Federally regulated wastes, these manifests are also collected in e-Manifest.

Generators

Let’s take a look at the number of unique shippers that shipped on a hazardous waste manifest in 2019.

OK. So, when it comes to the number of shippers, California tops every other state considerably, over 4 out of 10 shippers in e-Manifest are from California.

We have the hazardous waste filter in this chart also. If we filter to count only generators shipping EPA hazardous waste (select “Y”), California is still leading the US in number of shippers but it now comprises a little over 25% of shippers.

Management Method

How many tons of waste was incinerated from your state? What about managed through solvent recovery? Now you can rest…the questions that have plagued you can be answered. You can use this chart and view volumes by state by management method.

We have the chart defaulted to a management method for you (H040 – Incineration), just select the management method description and select the value you wish to see. We see that in 2019, Texas led the US in volumes incinerated.
