How are waste volumes being impacted on a state level? Are hazardous and non-hazardous waste volumes growing or decreasing in your state? We will take a look at how 2020 waste volumes are comparing to 2019 volumes. (We will be comparing the first 6 months of 2019 against the the first 6 months of 2020) Changes in Tons By State We have seen that waste volumes are considerably down year over year. (If you would like to read more on the year over year impacts on total volumes, please check out our article where we review this data in depth.) We can see across the US only a few states have waste volumes growing year over year. The above charts have both hazardous and non-hazardous waste in the total. Let's look at the charts and only look at Year Over Year change for EPA hazardous waste. OK. Well, we see that a huge amount of the decrease in Illinois and California are from drops in non-Federally regulated wastes. Texas now has the largest decrease YOY in hazardous waste being shipped followed by Indiana and Louisiana.
